Integrating Live Performance in Multimedia

During the spring of 1995, I was involved in the production of a large scale multimedia presentation for the inauguration of Georgia Tech President G. Wayne Clough.  One aspect of the presentation consisted of synchronizing a live orchestra with a computer animation sequence projected on a large screen.  This task was accomplished by providing the conductor with a MIDI generated click track.   I used sequencing software to transcribe the orchestra's score to a MIDI file.  The file provided a randomly accessible click track which was needed to allow the conductor to rehearse various segments of the piece.

StarChild  also utilized live performers in a large scale multimedia environment.   Techniques used to effectively rehearse and perform this type of production were outlined in a poster presentation presented at the 1996 International Computer Music Conference.
